A seperation

The other day I saw Asgher Farhadi’s A seperation. In the film the wife, Simin, wants to move abroad in order to improve the life of their daughter, Termeh. Nader on the other hand feels he has to stay in Iran to help his father who suffers from Alzheimers which leads them to file for a divorce, both wanting the custody over Termeh. The opening scene is filmed as if the audience was the judge and given the power to decide for those two people. I read somewhere that someone had called it a film that opens with “an impossible situation and ends with an impossible decision”. I highly recommend it.
